Today's Linen OAF!

Today has started with a bit of irritation and I already feel a piercing headache forming above my right eyebrow. The idiot from the Linen Company has already text my cell phone twice this morning asking if the room is set up and ready for him to come with chair covers. Normally this would be considered a fairly understandable request. I am however; taking into account that he text me twice last night as well and I had already explained to him that it was set up so anytime today would be fine. As soon as I arrive at the hotel at 11am, (or slightly after my scheduled time), two of the front desk agents bum rush me with the same request from my groom; a request which was easily taken care of but seemed like quite the feat before consuming this mornings red bull. (By the way, I have upgraded from the lobby coffee to red bulls now).

I am now sitting at my desk taking care of day to day business and going over options via the telephone with a potential bride. During the course of this conversation I receive two more texts on my cell phone from the Linen guy, (Why must they always arrive in two’s?), and about 3 staff members scurrying in my office to tell me that he needs me in the ballroom. It seems that he has brought white chair covers with light pink sashes when I have set up Ivory tablecloths with Fuchsia overlays, per the bride’s request of course. I refuse to place blame on anyone and go straight to finding a solution! I have sent the Linen guy back to his office to put together some Ivory chair covers and decided to have our staff here put together some fuchsia sashes to match the overlays already set up. Doing so of course out of the kindness of my heart because the Linen guy is the idiot getting paid here! Well he was also supposed to cover the chairs on the ceremony site… I told him before he left that the white will be fine outside and HE can use our Fuchsia sashes. Here we are now fifteen minutes before the wedding and although the ballroom is now matching and absolutely beautiful, (or at least to the bride’s liking), the ceremony site is absent of any chair covers or sashes! I’ve contact the Linen guy to check the progress of the outdoor linens. Here’s the play by play (via text): Me: “You are doing the chair covers outside too correct?” Linen Guy: “We were going to use your sashes”. Me (Replied kindly): “Well, are you still here to put them out there?” Linen Guy: “I am back at my office now”. End text. That’s great, ten minutes before the ceremony I am sending our banquet department out with our sashes so this poor bride at least gets half of what she has ordered from this Oaf! Ten minutes! I better go!
