Southern Bride

Morning weather update: 30% chance of rain and a high of 91 degrees. It’s beautiful outside and although I’m suffering a little from lack of sleep, I’m pretty excited about today’s wedding. Our bride today is a good ol’ freckly faced, red headed southern girl and one of my favorites thus far. We had a slightly fortunate mishap when she first came in to tour our venue. Living in another state, she and her mother chose to fly down and stay at our hotel for a couple days. Day 1 of visit; we had an appointment scheduled for 1:00 pm and our excited southern bride shows up right on the dot. We did some sightseeing on the property and she couldn’t have been more pleased. She was very set in stone on her date and it just so happens we were available in the ballroom she liked best. The wedding she had planned for would be very small and intimate and we would be a great place for her destination guests to gather. Our meeting ends and they undoubtedly enjoy the rest of their day on the white sandy beach. Day 2 of visit; just as I arrive at the office I get a visit from our southern bride and her just as sweet mother. They tell me they’re ready to book their wedding with me and fork over the deposit! We go through all the necessary steps in the contract and mom writes me a check for the initial payment due. With my pencil in hand, I grab our big book of weddings and prepare to write their names in on the chosen date. However, it appears that sometime between visit 1 and 2 another bride has stolen her date! I take a deep breath and prepare for a broken heart as I break the news to the bride. Her tears start flowing immediately after. I refrain from joining her in despair and instead I go have a chat with my boss. We decided to give her the option of booking our bigger much more elegant ballroom for just a grand more then what she was planning. Before they make a decision I take them up to the ballroom so they can have a look. They immediately gasp at how spectacular the ballroom is. I ask them what they think and without any hesitation, I got a quick reply, “Yes we will take it!” So now that months have come and gone, their wedding day continues and just as I had suspected she was one of the most beautiful brides I have ever seen. Their wedding and reception went off without a hitch and without lacking some much needed thanks to me!
