Memorial Disastrous!

My morning has started at 9am today. Is that early enough to catch a worm? I will settle for some coffee. Morning weather update: 30% chance Isolated T-storms with a high of 88 degrees. Sounds like summer time in Florida! So, its Memorial weekend meaning the beach and hotel are at complete capacity. Just getting to work this morning was a feat. The roads are taken up by slow drivers clueless of where they are going and suicidal pedestrians; no doubt playing some kind of real life Frogger, jumping in between the cars driving down the street. We have only one wedding today so despite the masses, the day should be fairly easy. I’ve spent my whole day answering obtuse emails and touring prospective clients. It’s now time to get tonight’s wedding in progress. Staff is all in place; we gather the bridal party in their designated classified areas and prepare to start. The band at the beach bar has been notified to cease and just as we’re about to send guests out I notice what looks like a long line of worker ants making their way up the beach. As the crowd gets closer, I can see a dazzle of color coming from the sun striking the plastic party beads around their necks. I immediately radio for back up as there is a Bar Crawl headed our way! 10 minutes before our Bride’s elegant occasion is set in motion and we have a group of 50 overly intoxicated and boisterous not-so accommodating people arrive at the hotel. The swarm of people is so large that they are spilling out onto the sand from lack of space at the beach bar. The General Manager, Assistant General Manager and virtually all other managers we have onsite begin to take place outside surrounding the ceremony area as if we are bouncers at a night club. With a lot of persuading and shh’s we manage to keep the group some what quiet. Of course just as our beautiful bride steps foot on the sand and starts her march down the powdery white aisle, a bar guest stumbles right behind her yelling “Don’t do it baby, come home with me”! Words of wisdom to all brides dreaming of having their special day on the beach; Make sure it is not on a Holiday weekend and especially not on one that people use as an excuse to get shit faced! (i.e. St Patrick’s Day, Cinco de Mayo, MEMORIAL DAY…) Or else save up some money because that's a whole lot of photo-shopping your photographer is going to have to do!
