My morning starts at 9am today. Morning weather update: a hellacious muggy 87 degrees which the weather channel was absolutely correct when saying “It feels like 99”! I have a wedding today at 10:30am. There’s something peculiar to me about couples having their weddings in the morning. This means guests will adjourn for cocktails and Hors d’oeuvres by 11am and be done by 4pm. Well, then again, having a cocktail right now doesn’t sound like a terrible idea… This couple has hired a very bothersome company that does their Music, Photography, Flowers and Officiating all in one. These all-in-one companies may sound like a brilliant idea but I am personally not a fan. One would like to think the person who started said company was so good at all of these different areas they couldn’t decide on only one. I find that to be a nonexistent circumstance. The real reason they give the brides such a great deal on everything is more because their skills are minute in all the different areas, not because they are pros.
The groomsmen gather in the hotel lobby 30 minutes before start time. This helps me be sure everyone, hung-over or not, is right where they need to be and out of the way when the Bride comes down. The Officiant from this company has been with the Groom and his men in the lobby the entire 30 minutes. Still somehow, he waits to go over the ceremony details when we’re outside, lined up on the ramp and ready to start. Keep in mind the weather today. Within seconds of exiting the building, your sunglasses completely fog up and you’re covered head to toe in a layer of sweat. Here he is, discussing ridiculous details like which direction the groom should hold the ring when placing it on her finger and my poor guys in suits are completely drenched before we even start. At last, he goes on his merry way and we are able to start the ceremony, 10 minutes late.
